History
There was the university within Évora which operated between 1559 & 1759. Based in the 16th century by Cardinal Henry, future king of Portugal and Pope Paul IV it was delivered to the Society of Jesus, but it was fold when you took a Marquis of Pombal government, because it was runned by the Jesuits. A todays University of Évora is working over again since 1973 as a state-start university.
